Jet Airways India is an international passenger aircraft company that is headquartered in Mumbai, India. The corporation's website says that they service 75 different destinations both at home and abroad and that's with "each connected every five minutes." Because their first commercial flight happened as recently as 1993, the airline is still thought to be a "young one."

Since that first flight, they have been very aggressive in their need to expand and make their services and itineraries better. Jet Airways is widely known to be one of the most rapidly expanding airlines. The airlines services twenty four locations outside of India and fifty one locations within it. Keep reading to learn more about this amazing airline.

The IATA Board of Governors re-elected the chairman of the company (Naresh Goyal) in the beginning of June, 2011, after a historic month in May of 2011. Until 2013, he will serve on the Board of Governors. Serving his first term from 2008 to 2011, this is Chairman Goyal's second opportunity to function. As the primary group who supervises the passenger air travel industry, IATA's focus is primarily on maintaining proper safety standards; this is their focus, allowing the rates to remain reasonable. There are 230 airline members in the organization, and that represents just under 95% of international commercial air traffic around the globe. When Jet Airways purchased Air Sahara, the subsidiary JetLite Airlines was formed. In May 2009, the company created Jet Konnect rather than try to expand JetLite. The regulations that created unacceptable delays in the transfer of aircraft to Jetlite from Jet Airways was the reason. So apparently it was easier to
simply create a new airline. Jetlite and parent company had an excellent third quarter in 2010. Of the domestic air passenger business in India, the combined operations enjoyed 26.9% of the market share. That figure is based on number of passengers carried which seems to be a good criteria. Those numbers show that the company is the top market leader in India's domestic air passenger carrier service.

If they haven't stopped completely, then the long-haul flights that use the Boeing 777 have been greatly reduced because of the years of economic recession. When it comes to transatlantic flights, the 777 Extended Range Boeing airliner really is the best. For financial reasons, the company is now using the Airbus A330 for flights to North America. Although flights to a few destinations were halted earlier, there are plans to resume a few of those flights later in 2011. A new service that will add more convenience for air travelers was announced in June of 2011 by Jet Airways. The Mobile Ticketing Solution is their latest efforts to integrate emerging mobile technology into air ticket purchases. Of course, this means that the mobile phone can be used for booking flights and purchasing tickets. The airline has teamed with Ngpay which is another Indian company with in excess of a million mobile users. Ngpay has experienced explosive growth in the mobile commerce sector service in India. All aspects and transactions can be performed with the Mobile Ticketing Solution including bookings, refunds or even cancellations. Even though the international destinations have been curtailed some because of the general economic climate, Jet Airways is still providing service to the large majority of original locations. The company has announced it has plans to resume flights to certain cities soon.
